Las Vegas Water Resource Recovery Facility

Facility information

We manage one of Colorado’s largest waste水 systems, and the Las Vegas Street Water Resource Recovery Facility is at the heart of it.

The facility was built in 1930 and has been upgraded several times since. It can treat up to 75 million gallons of waste水 per day.

The facility uses a process called “activated sludge with biological nutrient removal.” That means that some of the treated 水 is filtered for non-potable use, while the rest is released into Fountain Creek within permit limits. Solids that we remove during treatment are pumped through a 17-mile pipeline to our 清泉牧场 Facility for solids treatment and disposal.

The processes at this facility meet or exceed standards set by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

Besides treating 水, the facility also houses 水 quality labs and our industrial pretreatment program.
